I, too, tried out a few different churches before finding out that paganism was for me. It may not be for you, but I would say to visit all different kinds of religions and have fun discovering the world.

JW's kids must NOT attend nursery school
by aligot ripounsous ini thought that after some 30 years as a jw the wts's teaching is so familiar that i can hardly find anything new in assembly talks, which may be the reason why, as many attendants do, i gently noze down and opening an eye from time to time is enough to catch up the drift of an all too well known talk.
still, i've been genuinely surprised last sunday by a point a bethel visitor rose in one of the p.m talks, namely that jws are not advised to send their kids to school until an age when he (she) can take a personal stand re.
xmas, birthdays, etc.

No one is going to listen to this because of the need for daycare for little ones while the parents work. It is a global trait, both parents working.

still considering going back to meetings...
by oompa innot that i want to or anything, but this therapist guy seems to think that it would be really helpful to my wife.
he says to pull out the good and ignore what you dont like, and that supporting my wife a bit in this way could be good for us as a couple.
it could also let us have at least some shot at keeping the old social life alive.

In WT land, a tiny snowflake (meeting attendance) will become a blizzard (total control and a JC) in short order. They will eat you up for breakfast. And your wife will have false hopes about you coming back. I wouldn't do it. I would pick something else to do like courting her every week, again.

So, why are YOU up at this hour?
by AlmostAtheist init's nearly midnight, and all this week we're doing some after-hours work.
we have to do this when the agents are off the systems, thus after 11pm.
hopefully we'll finish it up here before 2am.

I wish night would never come. I wish the sun would never set. There is just too much living and fun to do to waste sleeping a 1/3 of my life away. Ooo, sooo sleeepy now. Yawwwwwwn.....

It's 12:26am here in Delaware. I'm fighting sleep. Will go to bed soon with the 7th Harry Potter book. Ron just stormed out of the tent. Maybe they will pick him up in a later chapter. He has to marry Hermione, after all. Daughter read book and likes to give me spoilers along the way:)

Most of my family members suffer from depression of varying levels. Most are on meds. All are JW's. I am not on meds. I am not depressed. I am OUT! -

GAY WOMEN
by Dansk inplease bear with me on this as this is a genuine attempt by me at greater understanding.. recently, a young woman i know has come out and stated that she is gay.
this is the second time i have been shocked - yes shocked!
- because neither woman fit what i used to consider was the "typical" gay woman profile (i am not using the word lesbian in case it causes offence).

What an awsome father you are! Stephanie/Faundy is so lucky to have unconditional love like that.

Does any real learning take place at the Kingdom Hall?

Public speaking skills: The sisters may learn less about that than the brothers because we weren't publically speaking whereas the brothers were. They stood at the podium and gave speeches. The sister did not. We had to make something up like a drama. It was stupid and I really didn't feel like I learned anything. The sisters' talks were fake situations while the brothers really did speak to the audience.
Inappropriate study levels: Babylong has Fallen book and all of the "deeper" book study books. They were very dry like bad college level text books but full of crap.

The real learning takes place at home when reading and underlining the answers to questions. JW's are supposed to be really good readers. But I found that after a few years in college, my reading ability and comprehension shot through the roof. At least the WTS does encourage a lot of reading. That has to count for something, right? No illiterates in the ranks. -

How sad and unnecessary. This should make for a very interesting field service day there. People will likely have read the article that morning. They are so worried about what affect their actions have on the precious name of Jehovah. This will make them look even more horrible.
